Q:2
A farmer and firemen helped colour a cliff and sheep on a landfill site in Surrey, which raised fierce debate over the use and ownership of land as well as the place of art in public space – and what space is public. The local pub provided refreshments to this picturesque hill that smelt of methane gas.
The Quarry Project
A performance explored the past and present nature of a quarry adjacent to the M25, Surrey, also used in work of the late Robert Smithson. Remnants from when prisoners of war lived and worked there, along with 100,000,000 year old rock formations were collected, before it was filled.
City Spaces
Interventions to public space in London were designed and made with research into time-space compression theory.
Stick Piece
Red sticks were painted and planted in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, America and England on a planned journey. This was linked to a mapping project that was left on permanent exhibition in Tokyo where this piece began. This followed on from an intuitive journey painting sticks blue before planting and photographing them to mark/alter moments in time and space and claim the image of these environments for my artwork. Blue sticks were painted and planted in Europe.
Writing Piece
This project explored and documented the development of an idea as an exhibited work in process using writing and discourse. It started in Tokyo, went to Sydney and concluded in London exactly three years later.
